Swimmer Commitments

  • Regular Practice Attendance:

    Swim teams require consistent attendance at practices to develop skills, build endurance, and work effectively as a team.

  • Work Ethic and Self-Discipline:

    Swimmers are expected to arrive on time, prepared with necessary equipment, listen attentively to coaches, follow directions, and demonstrate respect for the facilities and equipment.

  • Competition Participation:

    The swimmer's readiness, participation in swim meets is expected. This involves dedicating time to travel and compete.

  • Focus on Improvement:

    Beyond simply showing up, a true commitment involves actively striving to improve individual skills and contribute to the team's progress. 

  • Respect for coaches:

    Accepting coaching decisions and following instructions without argument. 

  • Respect for teammates:

    Encouraging and supporting fellow swimmers, both in practice and competition.

  • Respect for opponents:

    Acknowledging their efforts and competing fairly, without resorting to unsportsmanlike conduct.

  • Respect for officials:

    Accepting their decisions without argument and maintaining composure.

  • Avoiding unsportsmanlike conduct:

    This includes things like intentional physical contact, excessive splashing, taunting, and foul language.

Parent Commitments

  • Transportation:

    Parents are crucial for ensuring their child's consistent attendance at practices and meets, which can be located at different venues and times.

  • Time Investment:

    Competitive swimming involves a significant time commitment for families, including travel to practices and meets, and potentially volunteering at events.

  • Volunteer Support:

    Volunteering maybe required for some meets.

  • Supportive Environment:

    Parents play a vital role in fostering a positive and encouraging environment for their child, supporting their efforts, and communicating effectively with coaches when concerns arise.
